The Piedmont is one of the most upscale senior housing communities in the southeast, with a prime address and thoughtful features that meet the unique needs of adults 55 and older.
Located in Buckhead central, this high-rise is tucked amongst some of Atlanta’s most recognizable buildings, directly across the street from Phipps Plaza and around the corner from the Ritz. We knew we had location on our side and needed a look and feel that would compliment our upscale neighbors and appeal to this mature market.
The first high-rise in our senior housing portfolio, we wanted to build something distinct in style and well-suited for an active senior population. All 18 floors of luxury studios, one and two-bedroom apartments needed to capture the essence of Buckhead life, so we carefully selected the colors, finishes and floorplans to appeal to a refined palette and offer plenty of room for entertaining. The ground floor was designed with the Ritz Carlton in mind, with a grand lobby greeting you, a lavish dining area, a fitness studio and an outdoor pool facing the sunset.
Several years after leasing, the owners realized that they needed to include assisted living units to accommodate residents who were phasing out of independent living, but didn’t want to face the hassle of moving. We were tasked with figuring out how to renovate two of the floors, while maintaining the integrity and style of the building. The result was completely reconfiguring the space to include smaller units and separate common areas that mimicked the style of the other floors, but offered a deeper level of privacy and care.
